Slow And Steady Wins The Race!

Updated: Jun 4

Something I have always struggled with is wanting immediate results. I ate healthy and worked out hard for a week... why am I not seeing anything yet?!

Sound familiar?

We often want instant gratification and become discouraged when we don't get the results we want fast enough.

I'm here to remind you all that your fitness journey is a marathon... not a sprint! You can do all the juice cleanses and fad diets you want, and that may help you slim down for a couple days... but it will not teach you healthy habits that result in long lasting results.

Seeing results and changing your body takes time and it's okay to often feel discouraged! Just remember that every day is step towards your goal and with time and patience, you WILL get there!

Here is a list to go over every time you are feeling discouraged:

  1. Within three to six months, an individual can see a 25 to 100% improvement in their muscular fitness when a regular resistance program is followed. Emphasis on THREE months... not three weeks!

  2. Stop comparing yourself to others and their progress. Everyone's body is different and responds in different ways. You don't have to be THE best, you just need to do YOUR best.

  3. Take one day at a time. It's easy to look at the big picture and become overwhelmed.

  4. Follow a plan and stick with it for a month. Journal your progress and at the end of the month look back and evaluate. Did you stray from your diet? Did you cut your workouts short? Was it a stressful time at work? All these can factor into why you may not be seeing change. Try changing one thing and see if that helps with your progress.

  5. Don't let your doubts become realities. It's easy to say "I will never lose that weight" or "I will never be able to tone my tummy" and think that will not affect you. But the more you tell yourself that, the more you start to believe it! Turn your negative thoughts into positive actions.
